CHP on scene. Grass and oak brush. Fire is near Retherford and Wild Iris. Column is visible from Grass Valley and Placer County. Some precipitation occurs.
Structure protection is being established.

2:30 p.m. Some spotting is occurring.
2:31 p.m. CHP is establishing traffic control at Magnolia/Dog Bar and at Combie Road/Dog Bar.
2:36 p.m. Spotting has slowed.
2:46 p.m. Engines from Rocklin, Placerville, South Placer, Lancaster, Eldorado are arriving on scene.
2:52 p.m. Advance of the fire is slowing. Good progress is being made on the left flank of the fire.

2:53 p.m. The fire agencies are asking the public to not call for updates on the emergency line. (911)
2:54 p.m. Structure protection is in place.
2:56 p.m. CHP closing entrance to Dark Horse.
3:06 p.m. Additional strike teams from Roseville, Penryn, Sac Metro
3:14 p.m. Spot fire is now contained. 3 tankers and 3 helicopters reinforcing line with water and retardant drops.
3:17 p.m. Per Nevada County Sheriff's Office, no evacuations. Forward progress of the fire has been stopped.
6:11 p.m. Only road closure now at Retherford and Wild Iris
6:21 p.m. Good progress, some mop-up operations starting.
7:01 p.m. Excess ground resources are being released.
7:13 p.m. Full containment expected tomorrow morning.
7:14 p.m. Cause of the fire: Tree into powerline, strong winds
7:38 p.m. Crews will remain on scene throughout the night, reinforcing existing lines and continuing to surround the fire. All roads are open. No injuries reported. Full containment expected on Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m.
7:50 a.m. The fire is fully contained. Crews will continue mop-up and patrol of the fire area.
