The Yosemite Climbing Association (YCA) and Yosemite National Park are pleased to announce the opening of the photography exhibit "Yosemite in the Sixties: Climbing Life through the Lens of Glen Denny". The exhibit will open with a reception in the Museum Gallery between 2:30 and 4pm on Friday, November 9, 2007.

This exhibit presents the photography of Glen Denny, who climbed and lived in Yosemite throughout the 1960s. Glen first began photographing the Yosemite landscape in the tradition of Ansel Adams, but soon focused his camera on climbing and the social scene centered in Camp 4. Originally self-taught, Glen later studied art, photography, and film at San Francisco State University.

This exhibit was developed in collaboration with Glen Denny, Ken Yager, President and Executive Director of the YCA, Steve Roper, author and historian of Yosemite climbing, and the Museum Branch staff at Yosemite National Park.

The exhibit will be shown through January 27th , 2008. It consists of 83 historical black and white photographs chronicling the climbing life from 1961 -1971. The photographs in this exhibit appear in "Yosemite in the Sixties", a book published in 2007 by Patagonia and T. Adler Books.

Additionally, YCA will be hosting it's 3rd Annual Art Auction at the Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite Village from 5:00pm to 6:30pm on November 9, 2007. The silent auction benefits the Yosemite Climbing Association in Yosemite National Park. The artwork will be available for viewing in the Gallery on November 8th and 9th. Refreshments will be served.
