The DeadBeats long known as an incredibly fun and high energy Grateful Dead tribute band, return to Nevada City for a night of Pre New Years Eve fun, teaming up with local favorites Buck Love & The Humperheads.
Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead calls the DeadBeats "the best Grateful Dead cover band I've ever heard!"
The band is packed full of great musicians one of whom, Paul Kamm, shares guitar and vocal chores in both bands.
Their hallmark has always been that they play through the Dead's songbook as if it were their own, bringing new life to some great old music. The DeadBeats also feature some talented song writers of their own and their original songs slide seamlessly into the music as though it were culled from the same great American music tradition that the Grateful Dead were fond of exploring.
Buck Love & The Humperheads
With four lead singers, three guitars, keyboards, bass, lots of percussion and drums you'd be wondering if these guys could possibly keep the music on the pavement...well they do, as long as you don't need the road to be straight. This music is a melting pot of R&B, Soul, Funk, Southern Rock and Reggae, Folk, Jazz, World Beat and jam band style party music which after almost 20 years has brought six entirely different musical universes into alignment with each other like some weird and crazy musical solar system. Dancing to this music is like taking a big hit of fresh air...and while their kinetic and intoxicating energy with old classic songs is stunning, their original songs and lengthy improvisational jams are even better.
