GOLETA, Calif. Dec. 4, 2009 - The Forest Service is seeking public comment on a proposal to reissue a special use permit to the Winchester Canyon Gun Club for its target range on West Camino Cielo Road in Los Padres National Forest. The gun club has held special use permits to use national forest lands since 1969.

The public is invited to provide comments and any concerns about this proposal to the Forest Service. In order for those comments to be considered as part of the draft Enivornmental Impact Statement, responses need to be received by the Forest prior to January 18, 2010.

Comments related to the proposed action should be directed to Project Team Leader Jeff Bensen, Los Padres National Forest, 6755 Hollister Avenue, Suite 150, Goleta, CA 93117; or by telephone at (805) 961-5744.
