Butte County Fire/CAL FIRE Partner with "Toys for Tots" With Outstanding Results

By: Butte County Fire / CAL FIRE

Oroville Dec. 19, 2009 – Butte County Fire/CAL FIRE employees and volunteers partnered again this year to donate and collect over 1,800 toys that will be distributed to families in Butte County communities. This number is up from previous years; 527 toys in 2007 and 949 toys in 2008.

"Our challenges were great this year and our hopes were high" stated Lisa Bertolini, region coordinator for the Toys for Tots organization. "Each year we receive more applications than the previous year and this year was no exception. This outstanding effort will benefit hundreds of families."

Chief George Morris praised the efforts of both the Fire Department team and the community for their generous support of this yearly program. "We all benefit from great partnerships like this" he added.

The application process has closed for this season, but toys are still being accepted and can be dropped off at any staffed Butte County Fire/CAL FIRE station through Monday, December 21st.
