Nevada City, CA March 18, 2010 – Music In The Mountain's (MIM) annual SpringFest kicks off next week and the timing is perfect since it sure feels like Spring outside. Gregory Vajda, artistic director and conductor arrives this weekend and he will begin rehearsing with the orchestra and featured guests beginning Monday. They will be preparing to present a series of concerts featuring a variety of music that comes from centuries-old Vienna.

Five concerts featuring words, winds, wine, and more

The first concert on Weds. March 24th will literally transport concertgoers back in time as they relax at candlelit tables, watch Vienna Rhythm perform a series of waltzes on the dance floor, and indulge in rich slices of Viennese torte from our friends at The Flour Garden bakery. Thursdays "Classics for Kids" concert will engage 700 students as MIM puts on a free concert for Nevada County's 4th graders. Friday's concert will showcase Waltzes and Love Songs and be conducted by Ryan Murray, director of the MIM Festival Chorus. Aileen James and a special guest will light up the stage with Piano four-hands and Richard Zeller, baritone from the New York Metropolitan Opera will no doubt be a powerful presence with his rich, resonant voice. The weekend concerts offer a chamber musical experience where one can hear romantic strings and a wind serenade with select MIM orchestra soloists.
