December 8, 2009 - The Nevada County Public Health Department is continuing to provide H1N1 vaccine clinics. While the national news has reported a downturn in the number of H1N1 cases, California continues to see widespread H1N1 cases. Last week in California, there were 782 new cases of H1N1 that were hospitalized and 12 additional fatalities in patients with the H1N1 virus. Additionally, there were 26 new cases of severe pediatric influenza reported in California last week (this includes children from birth to 18 years of age). This is important since we do not usually see this type of severe illness in children for the seasonal flu.
The H1N1 vaccine continues to be a safe and effective vaccine as was expected from the clinical trials
Below is a list of upcoming H1N1 flu clinics for distribution. Please note that the last scheduled clinic on the 17th may result in longer lines and the possibility that we may run out of vaccine before everyone receives some.
