By: Chris Dabis, Nevada County Treasurer- Tax Collector
November 10, 2009 - Nevada County Treasurer Tax Collector announced her resignation this afternoon. Below is a copy of her letter announcing her retirement effective December 30, 2009.
Dear Mr. Weston and Mr. Haffey:
This letter is to inform you that I will resign my position as Treasurer Tax-Collector of Nevada County effective December 30, 2009.
Serving the residents of Nevada County for almost 39 years has been a privilege and an honor. I fully intend to keep in touch with the people of this county through volunteer work, as they are the best on the face of this earth.
My staff, led by Ms. Marla Gillard, tax manager, and Ms. Vicky Richardson, treasury manager, are competent and capable of running the office, thus giving you time to appoint someone to fill my unexpired term.
I recommend the interim appointment of Tina Vernon, as I have given my endorsement to her candidacy for the office of treasurer and tax collector. Ms. Vernon is qualified to hold the office by degree and by capability.
It's been my pleasure working with past and current elected officials and staff of Nevada County.
Respectfully,
E. CHRISTINA DABIS,
Treasurer & Tax Collector
County of Nevada
State of California
Editor's note: Dabis stated her resignation announcement coming one day after the Assessor's was pure coincidence. She also said she has no intention of running for any elected office.
