Dec. 18, 2009 - Three juveniles were apprehended by Placer County Sheriff’s deputies this afternoon for stealing an Auburn woman’s car yesterday. Meanwhile, at least eight stolen cars have been recovered in the sheriff’s jurisdiction this week.
Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles and to not leave their vehicles unattended while the engine is warming up. A woman who did just that in the city of Auburn Thursday came out and found her van had been stolen.
Around 2 p.m. today, a runner spotted three juveniles unloading furniture from a van in a field behind Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital. The runner called the Sheriff’s Office and responding deputies quickly found the three juveniles walking in the Auburn Greens. The driver was arrested and booked at Juvenile Hall in Auburn. His two passengers were released to their parents.
Last night, Joseph Golden, 28, of Auburn was driving a stolen car in North Auburn and was spotted by a sheriff’s deputy. A 19.7- mile pursuit ensued and Golden was eventually taken into custody in Grass Valley. The car he was driving was reported stolen from Grass Valley.
More than five stolen Toyotas and three Hondas have been recovered in Placer County this week, according to one sheriff’s detective. There is an ongoing investigation related to the string of car thefts.
