On Saturday, June 21 2008, 92 lightning strikes were detected within the Tahoe National Forest. Twenty-five fires were ignited from these strikes. Two complexes were established to manage the fires: the Yuba River Complex and the American River Complex.
To better manage the fires, they have been split in to two complexes: American River Complex and Yuba River Complex
Yuba River Complex

- Fall Fire - 2,420 acres / 100% contained
The Yuba River Complex was declared contained at 5:27 p.m. on July 15, 2008.
The Yuba River Complex is 100% contained. Crews will be patrolling and mopping up for the next couple of weeks as areas will continue to burn and smoke. The fires were started by lightning on June 21.
The weather is expected to be warmer and drier today with cooler temperatures this weekend.
The Incident Command Post has been moved to the White Cloud Fire Station. Gary Wright is the new Incident Commander.
The Tahoe National Forest wishes to thank the many cooperating agencies for their assistance in the Yuba Complex.
Note for Residents: Smokes within the perimeter of the fires will continue to be visible for many weeks.
Road Status: All roads are open except those that are west of the Bowman Road in the immediate vicinity of the fire.
Caution for Forest Recreationists: Please drive slowly and watch for fire equipment along roads.
Fire Restrictions are in effect for the Tahoe National Forest. Contact the Forest Headquarters or any Ranger Station for more information. Campfires can only be in designated campgrounds.
